Chic Repurposed Jewel Cross DIY

What woman doesn’t like a little glitter and bling?!?  I know I do, and love to find ways to reuse & repurpose bits and pieces of vintage jewelry that are a little tattered and maybe missing a stone or two.

This cross tutorial is so easy, using relatively common items turned out to be an elegant addition to my office.

·         Wooden Cross

·         Brass Filigree

·         White Paint

·         Clear or White Glitter

·         Broken Vintage Rhinestone Earring

·         Scrapbooking jewel embellishments

·         Rosary Chain

·         Glue

First thing is to pain the cross and brass filigree white.  Once the cross is dry adorn with glitter, then attach the brass filigree.  Let those dry.  Now you can adorn with the vintage jewelry piece of your choice, I used a vintage AB Rhinestone Earring.  Now you can adorn your little cross with little scrapbook jewel embellishments, I used clear and pearl.  To hang the cross I used a bit of vintage pearl rosary chain that I used to carry in my shop.

Getting ready for Halloween

Ok, so by now I have usually gone through tons of Halloween DIY inspiration and started creating new spooky décor for my house. In fact by now I have at least decorated my front porch for Fall. But…. this year I am really lacking the humph to get started, maybe because it is still around 100 degrees here and my lovely rose bushes and butterfly bushes have now died.


But, at least I have created a few chic Halloween celebration items for my Etsy Shop, inlcuding fun Spooky Chic Gift / Hang Tags and one of a kind assemblage jewelry pieces.

Long before I became a seller on Esty I was a buyer and addicted to searching through the shops and viewing all of the gorgeous photos!  Frankly, for me at least, taking photos to the standards by most of the shops on Etsy is crazy daunting.  If looked at Etsy enough you've noticed that often times the photo of the item for sale is a work of art in itself.

So... this morning I was again, looking through Etsy (instead of doing my real job, lol) and noticed this great photo and off I went to search for more Red and Bronze Etsy lovlies!

Flowers for Mother's Day

I cannot believe that this weekend is already Mother's Day!  Granted, mine is a little different because my step-kids of course spend the day with their mom, but they always call me and give me a wonderful gift.  My hubby is fabulous and always treats me with a great day, this year it's a Jazz Brunch and then the Mayfest Festival in Ft. Worth.
