Revamped Pumpkin Candle Hostess Gift - Dolloar Store Crafting

This DIY project was so easy and frugal (cheap) that I'm almost embarrassed to share it.

I'm always in the hunt for hostess gifts and found some wonderful pumpkin scented jar candles at the Dollar Tree for of course only a $1.00.  Unfortunately they were plain with a simple silver colored lid.

I simply couldn't leave them plain!  So I removed the lid spray painted cream & once dry I antiqued with a dark brown paint that I already had and clear coated for protection.  For an extra touch I tied oak leaves left over from my Fall Felt Rose & Just Wreath using some of the jute string along with an adorable Pumpkin Tag.  The Pumpkin Tag I created using a vintage pumpkin image set on top of an ornate orange frame I downloaded from The Graphics Fairy printed on card stock and cut using a tag punch. This little project really only cost me $1.00 for the candle since I already had all the other items on hand.

By the way did you know if you have Microsoft Word 2010 that you can easily remove the background from an image?  You can and it works amazingly well!

Dollar Crafting - Fall Jute & Felt Rose Wreath

I am so.... excited we are having our first day that feels like fall, cool temps and even rain!!!

I made another (secret trip) to the Dollar Tree this weekend and found the best craft supplies to create the sweet little Fall Wreath.

Supplies:
  • Styrofoam Wreath $1.00
  • Jute string $1.00
  • Bag of silk oak leaves $1.00
  • Berry Spray $1.00
  • Felt or Fabric that you already have on hand
  • Glue

Wrap your Styrofoam wreath form with the jute string, Tip - I ended up wrapping mine with muslin ribbon so that the green Styrofoam didn't show through.  Once you have that all nicely wrapped glue on your Fall oak leaves.  To make the felt roses cut yourself a circle of felt, cut this into a spiral and wrap around itself.  Here is agreat and easy tutorial for making these little roses from Little Things Big Smiles Blog. Now glue these on top of the leaves, add a few berries for a little of accent.

This wreath took be about an hour total to create with a total cost of about $4.00!

Etsy Love - Prim Fall Decor

I have multiple style personalities, but basically I love anything with chippy paint and is lovingly worm.  So this style quirk works with both shabby chic and prim decor.

I think that Prim is the perfect style for Fall, and specially for Halloween!

I've spent part of my evening looking through the pages of Etsy and have been finding some really awesome Prim artists and making a shopping list, of course.  I'm like a little kid as soon as I get a bit of my money in my Etsy account I have to spend it, lol.

These adorable Primitive Silly Punkins Ornies or Tucks come from Buttons in the Attic, a very creative artists with lots of treasures for your Fall decor.

And how cute is this Penny Rug from Penny Rugs for the Holidays with it's whimsical pumpkins and bold color palate.

I've been looking around the house to see where I could use this very cool Colonial Style Candle Box from Crow Hollow Primitive.  I love the color and simple lines and it has so many uses.  I'm thinking it might actually look great in my office at work!

And... I'm a sucker for fall spice candles, this one from Natures Glow Candles comes adorned with a plaid ribbon and rusty tin star and has the wonderful aroma of Halloween Candy Corn, oh yum!

Fall Jewels by Alyssabeths

We just got back from a too short visit with my sister and her family in North Carolina.  The fall foliage was just beginning in her area but it was still so lovely and inspirational!  I've always been partial to the rich hues of Fall.  Here are a few of my Fall inspired, vintage style handcrafted jewelry pieces.

Dollar Store Crafting - Shabby Chic Decoupage Pumpkin

Let the fun begin!  I'm so excited I've finally had the time to start crafting for the Holidays, of course beginning with Halloween.  I'm challenging myself this season to see what great crafts and decor I can create using Dollar Store, Goodwill or even old "junk" I have laying around the house.

Here is the final result, very Shabby Chic Pumpkin accented with glitter!

I started with a little 5" x 5" pumpkin that I found at the Dollar Tree store, which is the perfect size to set on top of a candlestick.
My supplies - $1.00 pumpkin, Mod Podge, brush, black paint, black and snow glitter and paper to cover the pumpkin.  To cover the pumpkin I chose an antique handwritten letter that I found on the Internet and then made several copies which I tore into tiny pieces.
For an extra fun twist I added a digital collage medallion that I created with a cool bat silhouette and a great vintage from that I found on the Graphics Fairy Blog.

I used the black paint the paint the stem, giving it a good base for the black glitter latter.  Then mod podged (is that a real term?) the letter pieces all over and then added my bat medallion.  Let this dry for a day then added black glitter to the stem and snowy crystal glitter to the top portion of the pumpkin.

Ta da, there you have it and elegant little pumpkin!  Now if I can the hubby to drag the rest of my decorations out the attic this weekend..

Etsy Love - Shabby Chic Fall Decor

We actually had an evening of rain last night, which has put me in the mood to drag my Fall decorations down from the attic, well I need to get my hubby to drag them down that is.  But I already know that I'm ready for a change.  This year I'm thinking a Shabby Chic Fall!

Ozma of Odds is a shop of elegant treausers, I love to perouse through her Etsy shop!  And I've fallen for her shabby chic lacey pumpkins!

I have two fireplaces, so I have two mantles to decorate and have been looking for banners to string across the front of them.  Crazy Husk Crafts has the cutests banners for all seasons and occasions.  This treak or treat banner is adorable, I need to see if she sells the matching pumpkins too!

Candle holders, according to my husband I have hundreds (he is exageratting, really he is) but.... I love these old fence post chippy candle holders from Thats So Shabby and must have them !

Like everyone else, I adore the versatility of burlap and have been wanting to add burlap pillows in my front den, but... since I can't sew which is a problem when making pillows, I have been looking around for burlap pillow covers.  I found these white flower adorned pillow covers in the Simply French Market shop.

Ok, so now I'm off to see how much more I can spend on Etsy!

My favorite time of year is just around the corner !

My favorite time of year is Fall, everything about it puts me in a great mood. The cooler weather, the colors, and the smells!  Baking is so much better in the Fall for some reason and I'm already starving for pumpkin bread. I know it is still August, but a girl can dream, right?

Here are a few of my Etsy shop creations inspired by Fall:

Autumn Orange Flower & Filigree Earrings Vintage style, autumn inspired rose and rhinestone earrings created with Vintage Orange Swirl Sabrina Glass Teardrop Jewels, tangerine roses set on lacey filigree settings, attached to antique brass French ear hooks.

Vintage Elegance Orange Rhinestone Engraved Brass Earrings Elegant, vintage inspired earrings crafted with gorgeous vintage round faceted orange glass jewels rhinestones & vine patterned engraved antiqued brass drops.

French Chic Moth & Crown Postcard Gift Tags Elegant, handcrafted French Chic Gift Tags with Vintage Moth, Crown & Filigree set on antique postcard. Collage was created using vintage images of a colorful moth in orange and blue, set on a sage green filigree pattern, set on an antique postcard that I have further accented with an ornate crown and filigree, both adorned with hand applied pewter glitter.

And.. there is still much more to come for Fall and the Holidays at Alyssabeths, I just need to find the time to takes some photos!
