Valentines Day is only a month away and I’ve been crafting and creating jewelry for the occasion like crazy! I have three different Valentines Day craft tutorials that I will start posting soon, which include a fun heart wreath, heart gift boxes and then something to change-up just giving a card!

I have a thing for hearts and almost always have heart items listed in my Etsy shop. But … I have been creating some special pieces just for Valentines Day using vintage jewelry pieces that I’ve purchased at recent Estate sales and antique shops.

Etsy Love H & J Star Creations

Do you hear the clock ticking faster, I sure do and time is running out to finish my Christmas shopping!  This year I've purchased a good deal of my gifts for my family here and away from Etsy, yes I am seriously addicted to this wonderful shopping site.  And why is that, well I prefer hand craftsmen ship, massed produced items are so impersonal and to me so boring.

As you know I'm a frugal crafter, design and sell jewelry on Etsy.  But I have a secret passion for fabric, love the stuff and guess what I can't sew, so I am always fascinated by those who can.  Take H & J Star Creations for example, she crafts purses, totes reusable lunch bags and so... much more!  It's amazing to me.

I adore her shop on Etsy, the unique designs and the BIG, BOLD colors and wonderful prices!  I asked Judy to tell us a little about herself:

"Thanks! I have always loved to sew, and about 5 years ago when my son was in a play they asked me to sew the costumes.. I was hooked again, just loved all the fabric choices out there. I had originally discovered etsy as a buyer, and my daughter made a lot of jewelry, so we first started with a shop for her.. h (holly) and j (judy). She soon tired of it, but I was hooked! Can't remember what I did before all this... "

Shabby Chic Altered Candle & Candle Holder Tutorial

Happy Saturday everyone, I hope that you all have enjoyed all the wonderful crafts featured on Alyssabeths this week and that you've had time to check out the other crafters at the Girl Creative and the other co-hosting blogs!

You never know where you will find inspiration, I had my mind set on one thing and then wandered into Ross where I found these wonderful cut glass coasters, 4 for $4.99!  I also happened to have 4 of those great candle sticks from the Dollar Tree, yes I hoard them because if you wait until you need them they won't be there.

Supplies:

Set of 4 coasters $4.99

4 clear candle sticks $1.00 each

4 Vanilla pillar candles $1.00 each

Silver Glitter Snowflake Ornaments

Sheet music paper

Vintage Lace

Ribbon

Modpodge

E-6000 glue
Glitter

If course I couldn't leave the candles plain, so I painted Modpodge on each candle and sprinkled with glitter and let them dry for 24 hours.

While those were drying I decided to go ahead and create the candle holder.  I first had to remove the stickers from each coaster and candle stick, so I went ahead and hand washed each piece.  One those were nice and dry I glued the candle sticks and coasters together using E-6000 glue, love this stuff it's extra sturdy and drys crystal clear.

 

Ok so now that the glittered pillar candles are dry it's time to decorate!  I cut strips of the sheet music scrapbook paper with a pretty edge (tip - I make copies of this particular paper because I use it so much, this is much cheaper than buying it over and over), wrap around the candle and glue down the ends with Elmers glue. 

Over that wrap vintage or vintage looking lace, and then with ribbon simply tie your ornament on!  Oh by the way, these are metal snowflake ornaments and measure about 2" across, I got a package of 10 for half off of $2.99 at Hobby Lobby.

And there you have it, a very elegant and frugal and very..... Shabby Chic pillar candle and fancy candle holder.  Great for a one of a kind and elegant hostess gift, Christmas gift or even for yourself!  Mine... are going to 4 of my friends at work!

Creating Christmas Chic JOY to the World Book Page Christmas Wreath Dollar Tree Crafts

Hello friends, I'm up bright and early this morning and couldn't wait to start of our week long Creating Christmas event with the Creative Girl!!

This week I'm going with a very Shabby Chic theme, of course using very frugal supplies, some from the Dollar Tree, a lot I already had and then some from Thrift Stores.  My work room, me and the dogs are covered in silver and snow white glitter!

I thought the wreath turned out to be very Shabby Chic and very elegant.  The best part is that it is super duper easy to create and a very inexpensive holiday craft.

Supplies were purchased at the Dollar Tree and items on hand:


Styrofoam disc - $1.00 for 2

Book Pages - entire book $1.00

Ribbon - $1.00

Glitter Wreath Ornaments - $1.00
Already had on Hand:
Crepe paper
Glitter

Glue

Glue Gun

Free Vintage Graphics
Cardstock

Tape

To start your project cut out the book pages with an exacto for a clean edge, roll into cone shapes and tape.  For the outer layer I left the edges plain, but for the inner layer I added a fancy edge with scrapbook scissors.  One you have enough cones just start gluing onto the Styrofoam disc.  I used my glue gun for this.  Decorate the edges with glitter for extra sparkle!

While I let the wreath base dry I popped over to the Graphics Fairy, my go to place for vintage graphics and found this stunning JOY to the World graphic for my center medallion.  Save the graphic to your computer, I changed the graphics to a round shape and then printed on white card stock, cut this out and glued to the back of the gold and silver glitter wreath ornament.  Once this was good a dry and took a roll of vintage cream crepe paper and created a ruffle using tape to adhere the crepe paper.

Finally you have your ruffled medallion done flip over and glue to the center of the wreath.  For hanging just glue a ribbon to the back! 

And there you have a very elegant and frugal Christmas Book Page Wreath, which I think cost me around $5.00 to create.

Dollar Store Crafting - Shabby Chic Decoupage Pumpkin

Let the fun begin!  I'm so excited I've finally had the time to start crafting for the Holidays, of course beginning with Halloween.  I'm challenging myself this season to see what great crafts and decor I can create using Dollar Store, Goodwill or even old "junk" I have laying around the house. 

Here is the final result, very Shabby Chic Pumpkin accented with glitter!

I started with a little 5" x 5" pumpkin that I found at the Dollar Tree store, which is the perfect size to set on top of a candlestick.

My supplies - $1.00 pumpkin, Mod Podge, brush, black paint, black and snow glitter and paper to cover the pumpkin.  To cover the pumpkin I chose an antique handwritten letter that I found on the Internet and then made several copies which I tore into tiny pieces.

For an extra fun twist I added a digital collage medallion that I created with a cool bat silhouette and a great vintage from that I found on the Graphics Fairy Blog.

I used the black paint the paint the stem, giving it a good base for the black glitter latter.  Then mod podged (is that a real term?) the letter pieces all over and then added my bat medallion.  Let this dry for a day then added black glitter to the stem and snowy crystal glitter to the top portion of the pumpkin.

Ta da, there you have it and elegant little pumpkin!  Now if I can the hubby to drag the rest of my decorations out the attic this weekend..

 

Coffee Table RE-Vamp Inspirations

I love estate sales, flea markets and even garage sales!  You never know what treasures you'll find and I recently found a great coffee table for $20.00!  But of course it needs much TLC and revamping.  I've been scouring the net looking for ideas, here are a few that I'm pondering:

So fun, this aged shabby chic chair with handpainted NEST and vintage nest graphic, and yes I know that this is a chair but.... I thinks this same technique and design would make a great table!  Oh, this is from Home Spun Happenings, great blog by the way.

Red Hen Home, I love her blog and want all the furniture in her house!  Wonder if she'd let me coming shopping?  This French Chocolate vintage graphic coffee table is exactly what I have had in mind, but not sure I can get my hands on an over head projector, so I haven't figured out how to do this yet.  But isn't her table great, using graphics from The Graphics Fairy.

 

And then there are so... many inspirations from Miss Mustard Seeds that I keep changing my mind, which as usual is driving my husband nuts.  The coffee table has been taking up space in the garage since early July so I see no need to rush now ! lol

Etsy Love. Bronze and Red

Long before I became a seller on Esty I was a buyer and addicted to searching through the shops and viewing all of the gorgeous photos!  Frankly, for me at least, taking photos to the standards by most of the shops on Etsy is crazy daunting.  If looked at Etsy enough you've noticed that often times the photo of the item for sale is a work of art in itself.

So... this morning I was again, looking through Etsy (instead of doing my real job, lol) and noticed this great photo and off I went to search for more Red and Bronze Etsy lovlies!
