Glitter Valentine Heart Treat Boxes

Ok girls, I found the cutest little plastic heart trinket boxes at the Dollar Tree last week and what a bargain, 12 for $1.00.  I'm not a big fan if purple so I decided to use only the red and pink heart boxes in the package.  I thought these would make adorable little treat boxes for my girl friends, once I've adorned with glitter and little cabbage roses!

You will need:
Heart Boxes
Modge Podge
Glitter
Crepe Paper
Glue
I started off by painting the little lids with Mode Podge, sprinkle with your glitter of choice, I chose pink and red.  Once these are nice and dry I created little crepe paper roses.  Cut your crepe paper into strips.  Start the little roses by taking one end and rolling into a little rosebud type center, from there start creating the petals by twisting and turning the rest of your strip around the center until you have your little cabbage rose, use the tail end of your paper strip to tuck under the rose gluing down so that the rose stays together. You might want to dap a glue into the rose as your go along.  I sprinkled the roses and little coffee colored leaves with very fine clear glitter.

And now your have great little Valentine treat boxes ready to fill will goodies!

Shabby Chic Button Jars

Now that I have my own craft space (also guest bedroom) I need to start getting a little more organized!  I have tons and tons of vintage and antique buttons and have been keeping them in baggies, really not very attractive.  I love old glass jars and ball jars, but those can be pretty expensive and I need a bunch.  So I went to my old stand by Dollar Tree and found these really cool retro sugar shakers!

Of course I couldn't just leave them plain.  I wanted to spray paint the lids but the weather won't permit this for a while so I decided to decoupage the lids with black & while toile scrapbook paper that I already had on hand.
Next I thought I would decorate the glass jar portion and found these vintage button tags on the Graphics Fairy.  Copied and printed out on card stock and adorned with a vintage button.  Then wrapped some vintage lace around the jars and attached the button tags with kitcen twine.  Again a super... easy and inexpensive craft project.
Supplies: Sugar shakers, scrapbook paper, kitchen twine, vintage buttons, lace, card stock, Mod Podge

Valentines Day is only a month away and I’ve been crafting and creating jewelry for the occasion like crazy! I have three different Valentines Day craft tutorials that I will start posting soon, which include a fun heart wreath, heart gift boxes and then something to change-up just giving a card!

I have a thing for hearts and almost always have heart items listed in my Etsy shop. But … I have been creating some special pieces just for Valentines Day using vintage jewelry pieces that I’ve purchased at recent Estate sales and antique shops.

When you have a chance pop on over to my LOVE and Hearts Shop to check out the other LOVE inspired jewelry creations.  Did you know that I only charge a flat $2.25 to US addresses?

Happy New Year, One Resolution Down More to Go

I hope that everyone is having a safe and happy New Years Eve.  Me, my big event for the evening was running out for Dunkin Donuts (yes, I can be bribed with donuts!).  We are spending a quiet evening at home with my step-son and watching movies, nice and safe that way.
New Years resolutions, well I have several this year.
1. Move my craft room - done
2. Take more time off from work to de-stress
3. Exercise and Take Vitamins daily!
4. Loose weight - oh... the donuts don't really seem like a good idea then, lol
5. Get my backyard back in shape, that is if we are allowed to water this year
For the one item that I can already mark off my list, the craft room!

For the last 2 years I have taken over our formal dining room. It drove me nuts to walk in the house and the first thing that you saw was jewelry supplies and craft projects in mid-stream. Plus, it was really dark in there and I swear I was going blind, lol.
This summer my step-daughter graduated high school and decided to live primarily with her mother (no rules or school expectations over there).  So... we decided to move my little work room into her room!!  It's not a big space, and won't make it into the "Where Women Create" publication, but is a vast improvement, it's my space and I can make it as girly and shabby chic as I want to!

I love my new space and have decorated it with antiques that are old freinds and recent finds all now painted a lovely soft Shabby Chic white.
The a chifarobe I purchased at an auction when I was 19 and have been lugging it around with me all these these years.  I adore black and white, and for the most part that is what the room is, with the white furniture, black & white damask prints and vintage ticking fabric, but I decided to paint the wall as very... soft pale green.

The lovely art deco vanity (a Craig's list find) is now my shipping area and my chifarobe stores my beads, vintage jewerly and most of my craft supplies.  And my little stack of vintage suitcases, the tapestry overnight case was my grandmother's, is used for extra storage.

I'm off to a good start this year, well.... except for the donuts..

Happy New Year and Happy Crafting

Revamped Pumpkin Candle Hostess Gift - Dolloar Store Crafting

This DIY project was so easy and frugal (cheap) that I'm almost embarrassed to share it.

I'm always in the hunt for hostess gifts and found some wonderful pumpkin scented jar candles at the Dollar Tree for of course only a $1.00.  Unfortunately they were plain with a simple silver colored lid.

I simply couldn't leave them plain!  So I removed the lid spray painted cream & once dry I antiqued with a dark brown paint that I already had and clear coated for protection.  For an extra touch I tied oak leaves left over from my Fall Felt Rose & Just Wreath using some of the jute string along with an adorable Pumpkin Tag.  The Pumpkin Tag I created using a vintage pumpkin image set on top of an ornate orange frame I downloaded from The Graphics Fairy printed on card stock and cut using a tag punch. This little project really only cost me $1.00 for the candle since I already had all the other items on hand.

By the way did you know if you have Microsoft Word 2010 that you can easily remove the background from an image?  You can and it works amazingly well!

Customer Spotlight!

I love a happy customer, it makes my day even more than the sale itself.  I wish that more of my customers would send me photos so that I can share with you guys!

But here is one creative Etsy seller, justmenicki3 who has incoporated a set of my handstamped muslin ribbon with matching gift tags.

You are viewing a beautiful Dessert stand!I make these dessert stands from salvaged parts!  It will adorn your home with a French Cottage Shabby Chic Flair no matter where you display it!  Embellishments are included on the knob. I tied them on with ribbon.
The fabric ribbon is hand frayed with Birds stamped on the ends and a matching gift tag.

Etsy Love – Repurpose and Reuse !

So according to many people that know me I am a creative, tree-hugger type, which when uttered by my father-in-law sounds like a bad thing. I fully admit that the ecological state of our world is a serious issue with me and will break into tears when I think of the upcoming, probable demise of the polar bear, along with other species that have had their world ruined by human hands.

Ok, so onto a happier note and in the spirit of conservation I have found some very creative recycled and reused creations on Etsy, everything from accessories to home décor’.

Beas Collectibles, found her store when she favorited an item of mine, so being nosey I strolled on over to her store and was blown away by her repurposing creativity.  Believe it or not she creates purses and wallets from soda pop tabs, I'm not kidding!  I don't know how she does it, but they look sleek, modern and fabulous.

My husband and I both have an affinity for maps, his office is covered with framed antique Texas maps that I have found during my junk shop hunts.  I'm thinking this repurposed mall lamp shade would be a perfect accent piece to his office.  The map lamp shade is offered by Eclu, it's so fun and I can't imagine how much time it took to create.

Of course I have to throw in something Shabby Chic!  I adore this shop and her repurposed cakestands, Vintage Cake Stands created with vintage plates.

And, last but not least I really... really... need one of these antique printer tray Jewelry Displays.  I'm hoping to start doing craft shows to sell my jewelry next Spring, and I love the chic vintage feel of these displays from Black Forest Cottage.

Coffee Table RE-Vamp Inspirations

I love estate sales, flea markets and even garage sales!  You never know what treasures you'll find and I recently found a great coffee table for $20.00!  But of course it needs much TLC and revamping.  I've been scouring the net looking for ideas, here are a few that I'm pondering:

I love this modern with a Shabby Chic twist coffee table revamp from Shanty 2 Chic,

So fun, this aged shabby chic chair with handpainted NEST and vintage nest graphic, and yes I know that this is a chair but.... I thinks this same technique and design would make a great table!  Oh, this is from Home Spun Happenings, great blog by the way.

Red Hen Home, I love her blog and want all the furniture in her house!  Wonder if she'd let me coming shopping?  This French Chocolate vintage graphic coffee table is exactly what I have had in mind, but not sure I can get my hands on an over head projector, so I haven't figured out how to do this yet.  But isn't her table great, using graphics from The Graphics Fairy.

And then there are so... many inspirations from Miss Mustard Seeds that I keep changing my mind, which as usual is driving my husband nuts.  The coffee table has been taking up space in the garage since early July so I see no need to rush now ! lol

Happy re-vamping!
